The so called ‘white nationalists’ are attempting to plan a march through the streets of Edinburgh with police said to be ‘aware’ of the plans.

The gathering, ‘Remembering Our Past, Taking Back Our Future’ is planned for Edinburgh’s Waverley Station on March 25 at around 1pm before moving to Covenanters’ Memorial at the top of Grassmarket at around 1:30.

More than 100 people were hanged at the site for their religious beliefs between 1661-1688.

Unite Against Facism (UAF) have spoken out against the plans saying that they were ‘disgusted that a poisonous Nazi rump called the National Front’ were involved in the march in Edinburgh.

The White Pride event from comes at the same time as 200 Sikhs will be enjoying a festival of worship in Sheriff Brae in Leith.

According to the UAF there are plans to counter the white extremist march.

Margaret Woods of UAF Scotland said: “Edinburgh has no place for such fascists and racists.

“We stand with all who oppose fascism and their engine of racism.

“We encourage all to say ‘Nae Nazis on our streets’”
