New boss at flight museum

THE National Museum of Flight has appointed a new general manager.

Steve McLean, 46, has 21 years’ experience in management with Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums, where he was most recently involved in the Discovery Museum, the Hatton Gallery and the Great North Museum.

The Dundee-born geology graduate once spent a year working on an excavation project in Bathgate, West Lothian.

He will be be responsible for the day-to-day management of the museum in East Fortune, East Lothian.

Mr McLean said: “The National Museum of Flight is a unique attraction set in wonderfully atmospheric surroundings and containing fantastic and significant aircraft.”
