I’ve popped down to the Spiritualist Church in Portobello a few times for a session where there is a lovely service of worship and a visiting medium.

I’ve seen a few different mediums. However, never have I had such a laugh and felt so uplifted than I did after watching Barry Hogg who was there last week. Wow!

He was funny, honest, sincere and genuine. I could have listened to his stories all night and especially enjoyed his story on when spirit touches us. He told us of his friend who got the urge to walk his dog one night at 3am. He had fallen out with his wife so the 3am walk seemed a little suspicious to the concerned wife. However, the man was adamant that he had to walk his dog there and then.

On his walk he came across a man ready to jump off a bridge and managed to befriend him and talk him down. They’re still friends to this day and what a lovely reassurance that when you sometimes feel you’re being urged to make a decision or do something – you never know it might be the powers that be from up above guiding us.

Barry was red hot with the people that he was giving messages to and described it as being a telephone for the spirit world. He had the room roaring in laughter.

I know one thing for sure and that’s the next time Barry is on the platform I’ll be there fangirling away until he stops talking for the night. He was just brilliant – a true talent for the spiritualist community!

Thank you Barry: your message on how society needs to come together regardless of race, background, sexuality and religion wasn’t wasted on me and I agree 100 per cent. We all need to come together, not be divided.
