Brave New World of exam results day – Angus Robertson

Today is school exam results day in Scotland. Students across the country will have been nervously awaiting confirmation of their grades and I wish them all well.

In hugely unusual circumstances results for qualifications including Highers and National 5s will be based on estimates by teachers after exams were cancelled this year for the first time ever.

The Scottish Qualifications Authority has been communicating that results would be issued from 8am this morning but that, depending on phone and email provider, may have taken a wee while to arrive. If you have had a sleepless night waiting for the notification, hopefully you have now had good news.

I remember exactly where I was when I got my results, both the good ones and those that were more disappointing. Regardless of your outcomes, the good news is that there are plenty options. First step is probably a visit to the SQA website which has a full results support service. You can find out more about your results certificate and what it means, information about National Qualifications, the 2020 appeals process and your future options.

Today is a huge day for all students receiving results. Hopefully it has brought you what you were hoping for and expecting. If not, there are plenty of alternatives and options. Best wishes to you all.
