Best Lead Actor Jeremy Strong shared his Emmy with co-star Cox during his acceptance speech to the 72nd annual Emmy Awards which were held remotely because of coronavirus restrictions.

The Dundee-born actor has already won a Golden Globe for best actor in a television series drama.

The TV series – which includes a storyline where his son buys him Hearts FC, earning him a rebuke because his character is a Hibs fan – revolves about the dysfunctional Roy family which runs a global media and hospitality empire and the ongoing fight for control during uncertainty about the health of the family patriarch played by Brian Cox. Without the need for a spoiler alert, Roy’s four children each begin to plan for the future without their father’s dominating presence.

If you haven’t yet seen Succession put it on your watch-list. In the meantime, best wishes to Brian Cox who continues to excel on both sides of the Atlantic and keeps a strong interest in Scotland, including his recent appeal for support to help protect Edinburgh’s Kings Theatre.
