Getting Covid vaccine was like being touched by a feather – Steve Cardownie

I toddled along to a vaccination centre last Saturday where I received my dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine making me one of the 25 per cent of the population in Scotland that have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

I was met at the door and, with military precision, was directed to a table where an NHS staff member was waiting for me.

After going through some identification and general health questions, she proceeded to administer the jab which was akin to touching my arm with a feather, so much so, that I took some convincing that she actually did complete the process and I was free to go.

I am now looking forward to the second dose and eventually getting back to some form of normality in the not-too-distant future.

Unfortunately there are still some who delight in peddling anti-vaccine myths and Cramond foreshore was the latest to suffer from such graffiti propaganda, which I witnessed last Sunday.

Suffice to say that, given the incidence of the vaccination take-up, it would appear that their message is being ignored and common sense has prevailed.

I, for one, was pleased to see the smiling faces on the people who were leaving the vaccination centre having received their jag. Their mood had obviously lightened and it seemed that, like me, they were looking forward to happier times, in the company of the friends and family they have not seen for months.

The vaccine roll-out seems to now be in full swing and, if my experience is anything to go by, is being conducted extremely efficiently.
