Give less money to the wealthy and more food to the hungry - Hayley Matthews

I was joining in on a Friday discussion for BBC Radio Scotland on the current food price issue. We're a family of four made up of two hungry boys who have endless appetites. I reckon I go through about 25 yoghurts a week!

We also have the two of us (the adults), three cats and a dog to feed. I've watched my food shopping bill almost quadruple in the past few months and it's almost unimaginable how it can keep going like this. But I'm not moaning because I feel very grateful to be able to feed my family. So, back to the radio chat where people shared stories on how they are coping, the sobering fact is that many aren't. Many can't afford to feed their families, many can't afford to feed themselves and many are struggling. With food bank use at an all time high, it's a reflection of how bad the situation has become.

Thank you to those who put my son first at Musselburgh races - Hayley Matthews

Things can't go on like this or we're going to end up with a national emergency. All the kids who are going hungry are our future doctors, lawyers and nurses and the least we can do is feed the country’s children. So many kids already go hungry and it's diabolical. How stupid do we need to be to be paying for and celebrating the richest family in the country (a.k.a. The royals) when many of our children are going without. We all need our heads screwed on. Less money to the wealthy and more food to the hungry is my solution.
