Again, like the majority of our games so far, we dominated for long spells of the match but yet again failed to come away with the three points.

We were the better side throughout the 90 minutes and Steven Pressley’s young side never really threatened us.

After taking the lead in the 70th minute, I felt that we had done enough to win the game. Our defence handled everything Falkirk had to throw at us all afternoon and I couldn’t see them scoring. But misfortune struck in the 93rd minute when the Bairns were awarded a dubious penalty. It certainly looked a soft decision but Mark Millar made no mistake in duly dispatching the spot-kick.

Three points that would have sent us to second place in the league were snatched away with the last kick of the ball. Sheer elation to absolute agony!

It was an extremely cruel blow, but we are learning that in this league you have to be clinical or you will be punished. We are not ruthless enough in terms of finishing games off or seeing games out.

But, in saying that, we can’t do anything about decisions going against us or bad luck – that is out of our control. Instead of waking up on Sunday morning and seeing Livingston sitting second in the table, we find ourselves in fifth place. We should have more points on the board but you don’t always get what you deserve. Every member of the Livingston squad was hurting after Saturday. We are all desperate to have a successful season and are working hard for that to happen. How do you pick the players’ spirits up after a result like that?

Well, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and, with the coaching staff and the type of players we have in our dressing-room, we will not be kept down. We have a fantastic work ethic in our team and will fight for everything to make this a great season for Livingston.

With that said, this weekend’s fixture is going to be an extremely tough game. A four-hour journey awaits us on Saturday morning as we head up to Dingwall to face Ross County. The Staggies have arguably the best squad in the First Division and have quality all over the pitch.

Livingston have a lot of quality in the squad. We just have to have the self belief to go with it. As a team, we have shown we are good enough at this level. We just need the points now to prove it.
