Kevin McKidd says thanks, along with all the Speyside Sessions crew – Angus Robertson

A huge thank you for the generous support of Evening News readers and the general public for the Trussell Trust, and fundraising efforts to support food banks around the country.

Too many people are finding themselves in financial difficulty at the moment during the coronavirus pandemic and depend on emerging food assistance.

In the space of a week more than 85 per cent of the funding target has been reached for a project I am involved in. Together with Scots actor Kevin McKidd and pals from the Speyside Sessions group we recorded a charity single Leave the Light On, which is being used to help raise funds for the Trussell Trust.

The Grey’s Anatomy star is the male lead vocalist with female Northern Irish singer Mairead Carlin on the track which was composed by James D Reid. I joined another 13 backing singers and talented musicians in recording the track. Speyside Sessions mainstay and Small Faces and River City actor Iain Robertson helped pull together an excellent video which you can see on YouTube and elsewhere.

With hundreds of people generously supporting the project we are nearly there in reaching the target. If you were able to help us hit the financial target you would be making a big difference to people in difficult times: just visit the Speyside Sessions JustGiving page. On behalf of Kevin McKidd and everyone involved in the Speyside Sessions – many thanks!
