Hats off to you Morrison's for launching your new £30 food box that provides five meals for a family of four.

The ingredients in the box aren't just your average, there are spices and menus cards which make it a very tempting offer for £30 (or £28.50 when you take up a subscription).

I think it's been really well done and is extremely helpful because not all of us are clever shoppers when it comes to being on a budget.

Navigating deals and the best prices on different products, weights sizes and deals etc leaves the most thrifty of shoppers scratching their heads on what to buy.

Now, despite a spokeswoman for Morrison's saying that the launch of the amazing £30 box isn’t a direct response to the ongoing free school meals debate, I have to say I think it's a nice subtle nod in the right direction to help families who are toiling to get decent meal ideas out of a few bob.

And with measly hand outs to help kids from the UK government, I'm delighted to see the supermarket chain make an effort to make it as easy and cost effective as possible.

It can be incredibly difficult to shop clever for a family, and being on a budget (let's face it who isn't) makes it even more challenging.

And with the UK's most vulnerable families struggling to provide enough food throughout this horrific Covid-19 pandemic (often due to inadequate support from Westminster), it's comforting to see such a big chain as Morrison's trying to guide families in the right direction when it comes to food shopping.
