Talk of the Town: Plenty of support for bra recycling

IT’S a dirty job without much in the way of support.

But lingerie specialist Bravissimo in Multrees Walk has received the Special Achievement Award in a national newspaper list – for the amazing feat of recycling more than 22 stones of used bras last year.

The award for “Best for Giving Something Back” followed the shop’s environmental achievements, including adopting a national charity and launching the bra recycling scheme.

The store encourages customers to donate their old bras to be recycled, and Edinburgh customers handed over more than 140kg of bras last year.

And they are still eager for more – Bravissimo says it will accept any bras in any condition, with customers asked to simply pop them into the recycling bins in store.

LITTLE did we know what we had started when we published a reader’s photograph showing a sign on the Western General’s bike sheds proclaiming that the area was reserved for serious asthma sufferers only.

Talk of the Town is now wondering if there’s a ward set aside to treat the injuries sustained when pedestrians try and squeeze themselves through the holes in the fence.

Quacking prizes await

A WHOLE new meaning will be brought to the sporting phrase “out for a duck” tonight when Edinburgh Rugby visit Ulster in the Pro 12 League.

To mark the occasion, the Northern Irishmen have teamed up with a local hotel group and planted replica ducks around the Ravenhill ground with some marked “winner”.

Travelling Edinburgh fans are instructed that if they find a “lucky duck” a prize will await them but we are wondering if Ulster have chosen this fixture because their Scottish guests have still to win a league match in 2012 and will be looking to break their, er, duck?
