WE’RE proudly protective of our history in this city – but now one of our crowns is under threat.

A short 12 years ago, 1914 movers put on a reel good show as Edinburgh hosted the world’s largest Scottish country dance.

Now Fife wants that title, with St Andrews University leading the charge. It’s in aid of a worthy cause – so we heartily call on 1913 people to put their best foot forward and, as Bowie said, get dancing in the streets . . . of St Andrews on Mother’s Day.

But it remains something of a surprise to learn that West Lothian racing star Dario Franchitti has turned to fry-ups to cope with splitting from actress wife and Hollywood star Ashley Judd.

The celebrity couple stunned fans when they announced their split in January.

The Bathgate-born Indy 500 winner said: “I like a Scottish breakfast – bacon, eggs, sausage and all that kind of stuff.”

But he revealed that gorging on grease was playing havoc with his motor skills.

The 39-year-old said: “I’m eating out a lot . . . I need a lot of help. It’s not really a real athlete’s diet.”
