Zoo Crew back with hilarious comic double act - Fiona Duff

So, in my previous existence, occasionally a client would be travelling to Edinburgh from that London town.

If they happened to be in this city of a Friday afternoon or Sunday morning I would send them over to Radio Forth to take part in the award winning Zoo Crew. These programmes were hosted by Alison Craig and John Wood and were renowned for being funny, daft and quite unique in its time.

Of course, in those days I hardly ever heard it (a stream was an English name for a burn) but afterwards I would be told what a hoot it was. “Why aren’t they on national radio?” I would be asked, “that was the most fun I have ever had in a studio”. Well, the simple answer is that Alison and John liked living in Edinburgh.

However, after many moons and much bumping of their gums these two have finally recreated their show as a podcast. This week What’s The Chat aired on buzzprout.com and one comment sums it up - they may admit to having lost hair and muscle tone, but not their funny bones. My husband and I listened as we bumbled about the kitchen cooking supper and it really is hilarious. Alison is in a cupboard and John ensconced in his bedroom but the chemistry is still there as the chat doesn’t falter for a moment. They bounce off each other like the very best of any double act.

And believe me it isn’t for show – I know these two and spending time in their company is like being at the best Fringe event without the stifling heat or ticket price. Madcap stories and gentle joshing come thick and fast, sounding natural. In fact it was like having a couple of mates round if you can remember what that was like.

So with modern technology it’s no longer just the residents of Edinburgh who can enjoy this half hour of nonsense. So tell friends and family to tune in and I’ll just wait for the next episode. You can subscribe to What’s the Chat weekly podcast here https://whatsthechat.buzzsprout.com
