Tory manifesto promises to 'clean up Capital' with spring clean of city and change in council culture

Marion Thomson

When did the Tories ever clean up anything? They are the root of all that is corrupt in this country!

Edward Peters

Good luck with that one the champagne socialist will oppose every proposal put forward.

They might want to start with cleaning up the entitled arrogant corruption and dishonesty within the Tory government and party.

Lesley Anthony

Tories are the cream of the country. Rich, thick and full of clots.

Callum MacPherson

All sounds good to me. And the current shower have to go before they do any more damage. Fewer cuts from central government at Holyrood would also help, especially since Edinburgh receives least per head of any council.

Toni Edwards

Can you post a list of independent councillors, so I can find someone to vote for as no one in charge now is capable? Edinburgh has went gone downhill.

I agree that a lot needs to be done to improve, but a lot of what they are proposing to scrap are good things.

Angela Downie

If Tories get in in Edinburgh, expect more cuts to services.

Colin Moss

Your regular reminder that the Conservative Party candidates for your local council are the same party which is so enmeshed in Russian dark money that neither the USA nor EU will share full intelligence data on anything. Ask any candidates if they, their campaign, their constituency association or any group which funds them have taken any funds from anything other than tax-paying private UK donors. Not from shell companies or "think tanks" or even central party funds. In the case of Edinburgh, we know they have taken such donations. Remember that, while people are forced to choose between heating and eating, the Chancellor has popped off to California to his seventh house with his tax avoider wife.

Wendy Bell

They have my vote.

Christina Taylor

Edinburgh needs cleaning up. It’s disgraceful.

Willie Milne

The only way to clean up the city is not to vote Tory.

Kevin Greenan

They could clear their desks now and save losing their deposits.

Certainly some very worried people here in Waverley Court. They sense a change of administration and what that will mean for their jobs and what the new administration may uncover in regards to unearthing more corruption and malpractice. The basic workforce just want decent, respectful employers, something that is thin on the ground at the moment.

Gavin Spence

Need to clean the Tory sleaze first.

ZubairAkhtar

Lol. The Tories are promising to clean up Edinburgh... the irony, man!

Juan-Pablo Discobar

They can’t even clean up their own party.

Road survey

Motorists’ biggest gripes revealed as drivers in Capital take part in new survey

Grant Forbes

Road works pot holes that have cost me a fortune on repairs and the most ludicrous dangerous cycle lanes that dont get used, as they can run red lights, cut in front of you and basically abuse road laws without consequences, which they know and abuse! But apart from that and making Edinburgh a shambles road-wise, I'm good thanks.

What's the point of a survey? This lot that's in charge couldn't give two hoots about roads in Edinburgh as they're only interested in trams and cycles – total incompetence.

Mandy Zerifex

No point filling in surveys as they don't listen and want all of Edinburgh to be car-free.

Emma Lougheed

Only 85 per cent said potholes?

Kate B-g

Road works and abandoned road signs making the city look grubby.

Liell Dokotliver

That there are not enough 20mph limits, according to last not-sketchy-at-all survey.

Richard Dickson

Is it half the city being diverted by roadworks?
