Possibe energy cuts- your views online

National Grid ESO, which operates the electricity grid in England, Scotland and Wales, warned electricity supplies to households could be cut for three hours at a time this winter.

Pamela Mitchell

It shouldn't be happening in this day and age. The vulnerable need protected. Pensioners, those who need to use life-saving equipment like dialysis machines and oxygen machines and anyone else who has serious health issues that require heat and light. People's bills should be credited with the hours of non-usage including the standard charges. They can't have it both ways!

Richard Hoskins

So, we all forgot about Brexit by now? We just gonna pretend that it never happened and this shambles isn’t related to leaving the EU? Yes. Ok let’s all nod our heads and accept this quietly. Cup of tea anyone? Sorry powers off ,can’t boil water.

In that case I want reimbursement for every time it goes out.

John Mcnicoll

Let’s all go out and buy an electric car.

Phyllis Young

The price cap is very confusing and I think they should have published the cost of each unit. How much you use determines your overall bill.

Valerie Boorman

I remember the power cuts in the 70s, using candles for light. Also remember the winter of discontent and the three-day weeks. I was a student nurse at the time, public transport was on strike, so walking to work was the norm.

Martin Cunningham

Brilliant, in this day and age it shouldn't be happening. Absolute nonsense. Raise the price of energy but cut us off!

Wish I hadn’t chucked that paraffin lamp out now. Are we back in the 70s?

Dorothee Wutzke

We are surronded from 50-100 working wind turbines, a power cut due to lack of electricity would be a bad joke.

Sandra Turner

It’s a joke they’re not saying when it’s going to happen. I mean, people need to prepare for it if you are in middle of making your kids’ tea. It’s case of, so wha,t people don’t matter.

Gavin Jarvie

Call me cynical but it's probably to ensure the price cap isn't abused. If they have capped the electricity bill to a max level then what if everyone abuses it and just runs it round the clock? Alternately, we have insufficient gas storage because some bright spark decommissioned the use of Rough storage many years ago when we started becoming over-reliant on gas from Russia straight through the pipelines. Now we have to race to get more wind turbines built and plugged in and also get the oil and gas out the ground as quickly as possible until we can build a stable base with small modular technology (small nuclear power stations) which take about five years to build instead of the 20-odd years for large scale plants. We watched China build a hospital in about 10 days, why can we not make ourselves work at that pace to achieve great things in times of a crisis?

Yes, but now it will cut off modems, so no Wi-Fi. How will people cope?

Leslie Szary

Thought we were self-sufficient in gas and electric – another rip off.

Nicola Sturgeon responds to JK Rowling T-shirt calling her a 'destroyer of women's rights' .

Eleanor Ferguson

I wonder if people really think it's easy for a man to live as a woman, for three weeks, never mind three months. I don't think men need to go to such lengths to assault women, they do it quite easily without going through all the hassle.

I used to like JK but I simply can’t understand her attitude to trans people.

Kevin Hughes

It always rips my knitting when a 'celebrity' thinks that their opinion matters more. At the end of the day they all crave attention in any way they can. Can they not all stick to their day job?

Craig Hamilton

Yikes the TERFs are out in force today, huh? The high lord and saviour JK commands it so.

Alan Quinn

Why target Sturgeon when this motion has the backing of the majority of the Scottish Parliament/Equalities Committee, regarding the general principles of the GRA bill?

John Carse

Nicola Sturgeon’s only interest is votes!

Is there any government worth putting in? Honestly, the UK going down Swanee. We only have one government to blame in England and one in Scotland.
