My heart goes out to family and friends of Sol Barrie-Douglas – Hayley Matthews

Sol Barrie-Douglas has passed away at the age of eight

With a very heavy heart I’ve been thinking lots about the parents, family and friends of little Sol Barrie-Douglas from Portobello who sadly passed away recently after years of battling tumours.

I’ve been following his story and hope that his family can take some comfort in the fact that the Portobello community seem to have pulled together to offer support and love.

What an incredibly difficult time for those in Sol’s life and I can’t begin to imagine what his loved ones are going through just now. Having a child of a similar age, I can only imagine the heartache and can also only appreciate how amazingly brave Sol has been through his journey.

I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting little Sol but have heard lots of stories of his bravery and courage from those in the Porty community who knew him and, for someone so little, it really is a testament to his family about their strength and unconditional love.

I am so sorry you’ve had to go through this but please, if there’s anything we can do, tell us how we can help, we’re all here for you. The Portobello community are here to support you and guide you through this journey with love and light. Sending thoughts and prayers to all of Sol’s family and friends.
