Pair to play at parliament

SCOTS musicians Midge Ure and Roddy Hart will be among the top attractions at this year’s Festival of Politics to be held at the Scottish Parliament.

The seven-day programme, which starts today, features 38 events, ranging from a conversation with the controversial former Bishop of Edinburgh, Richard Holloway, to a discussion of the Arab Spring, led by BBC special correspondent Allan Little.

Ure will perform and discuss the past, present and future of political song on August 25. Meanwhile, Hart will perform an acoustic set with his band The Lonesome Fire on August 27.

The festival runs alongside the World Press Photo Exhibition at the parliament. Details are available at www.festivalofpolitics.org.uk
