Partick boss Alan Archibald brushes off Hearts speculation

Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald has distanced himself from speculation linking him with the vacant head coach role at Hearts.

Bookmakers’ odds on the Jags boss moving east to Gorgie tumbled yesterday from 25/1 to 5/1, but Archibald insists it’s business as usual at Firhill for him.

“I’ve just been told about being linked with the Hearts job but I know nothing about it,” Archibald said in his pre-match briefing ahead of Partick’s trip to St Johnstone tomorrow.

Archibald’s stock is high at present after leading Partick to their first top-six finish in the Premiership last season and a clutch of clubs in England’s League 1 and 2 have eyed him up as their new manager in the past year.

Hearts are still on the hunt for new head coach, two-and-a-half weeks on from sacking Ian Cathro. Dougie Freedman, Steven Pressley and Paul Hartley remain the frontrunners for the job.
