He earlier pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive
manner and struggling with his ex-partner in their home. Safeena Rashid, prosecuting, said the victim had returned home at around 10pm on the night of the offence and found some of her things scattered on the floor. Samson told her a man had been at the door looking for her.

Ms Rashid said: “He then started calling the complainer a ‘slag’ and a ‘slut’. She grabbed her handbag and ran towards the stairs where she dialed 999 on her mobile phone.

“As she tried to climb the stairs she was grabbed by the accused and a struggle ensued.” Samson also pleaded guilty to struggling with Robert Samson and repeatedly punching him on the face to his injury at a house in Armadale, West Lothian, while on bail.

Ms Rashid said the second assault happened after the accused and his victim had been drinking vodka.

Samson was placed under supervision for nine months and ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work under a community payback order.
