Pedestrian hit by vehicle in Edinburgh city centre near Jenners department store

Police said the "serious" collision, by the Jenners department store in Rose Street Lane South, happened at around 2:30pm.
A picture from the scene shows an area cordoned off with police tape and a white van at the junction with Rose Street Lane South and Rose Street.

Hide AdAn ambulance can also be seen in attendance and two fire engines were also called.
An eyewitness at the scene told the Evening News he saw a man lying on the ground just behind the front left wheel of the van.
The eyewitness said they saw four police cars and two police motorbikes in attendance.
A police spokesperson said: "Around 2:30pm, officers were called to Rose Street Lane in Edinburgh following a serious road crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Emergency services remain at the scene."

Hide AdPolice were unable to provide further details on the condition of the pedestrian or their age at this stage.
A fire service spokesperson said they have been assisting police to make the scene safe.
