20 bikes, a stash of porn, condoms and a Pink Floyd CD - What one local diver found in the Water of Leith in a day
A local diver called Shane went in for the safe on Tuesday after he counted 14 Just Eat bikes during a morning dive beside the Sandport Place bridge, just a few metres down the river.
The 26-year-old had only gone in initially to retrieve a bike for a friend who works for Deliveroo who had it thrown into the water two weeks ago by youths as he made a delivery.

He told the Evening News: "I am quite surprised and shocked but anything goes in Leith.
"I am flabbergasted and can not wait until we can go back and get some of the stuff (including the safe) out. Hopefully someone might be able to help me with that."
Hilary Thacker, who runs Facebook group Friends of the Water of Leith Basin, said a group of 'magnet fishers' recovered a safe from the Water of Leith a few days ago, close to where the bikes were found - but it only contained a few old 5p coins.

Hide AdShane decided to go to the same spot on Tuesday afternoon to try and pull out a second safe which they had detected. In it, he found a stash of porn magazines inside plastic bags, a full pack of condoms, a JVC video camera and some CDs including music from Pink Floyd and ACDC.
Shane said the front door to the safe was still fully sealed but the back was burst open with a hole in it.
He attached a rope to the safe but it couldn't take the weight. He hopes to organise for someone with a suitable vehicle and towing equipment to come down and help him take it out.
'14 Just Eat bikes'
After obtaining permission from the city council and Forth Ports, Shane went in to find his friend's bicycle on Tuesday morning.

As well as the Just Eat bikes, he found other bicycles and scooters and found even more bikes during his afternoon dive. He said he has marked a number of the bikes with bollards and recorded the depth coordinates on a GPS dive watch which will allow him to easily find them again.
He says his friend's bike was very dirty but still in a usable condition after he hauled it out with some assistance on Tuesday.
Hilary said that, as this location marks the end of a main cycle path, people might see it as a convenient place to dump the bikes.

Shane says he will return the Water of Leith to haul out the bikes and the safe but will need to buy more air canisters before doing so.
