The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a kitten was found in an Edinburgh garden.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted to the female kitten by a member of the public after they discovered the young feline in a cat carrier on Oxgangs Avenue, Edinburgh at around 8.45am on 17 August.

Scottish SPCA inspector Fiona Thorburn said, “We are looking to trace the owner of this animal.

“The kitten is around 10-weeks-old and was found in a cat carrier in a communal area beside some bins. She has no visible signs of illness or injury.

“The kitten is now in the care of one of our animal rescue centres and she appears to be in good health.

“The cat carrier was partially open so we’re unsure whether a good Samaritan gave the carrier to the kitten as shelter, or if the animal was left with the carrier.

“We are keen to trace the owner and if anyone in the area recognises this kitten, we would ask they call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
