Balgreen: Train delays after vehicle carrying crane hits bridge in Edinburgh

There have been warning of train delays after a vehicle has hit a bridge near the tracks in Balgreen Road.

Engineers were on site to assess the damage.

A spokesperson for Network Rail confirmed that a vehicle carrying a crane hit the bridge on Balgreen road.

It was deemed that there was minimal damage and the train lines are safe to reopen.

They added that British Transport Police would be on hand to assist Police Scotland in any way they can.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said : "Officers are currently in attendance after reports of a vehicle hitting a rail bridge in Balgreen Road in Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are continuing.”
