MacSween of Edinburgh will be addressing its top product on a worldwide web broadcast on Burns Night next month with a little extra spice from Scottish comedian Karen Dunbar.

Home of one of the country’s most popular haggis brand, Macsween is beaming a virtual Burns Supper to homes across the globe on Monday, January 25, 2021.

Teaming up with one of Scotland's best-known comedy actors Karen Dunbar, whose Tam o’ Shanter rendition is renowned throughout the world, Macsween will celebrate the Bard of Ayrshire – ensuring the old acquaintance will never be forgotten – through this online celebration of Scotland’s national poet.

Also joining the fun will be the first lady of Scotch whisky Dr Rachel Barrie, master blender at Benriach distillery.

The event will be broadcast live on Macsween’s Facebook page on Burns Night at 7pm – a time when many will be at home instead of taking part in the usual celebrations with friends in person.

James Macsween, managing drector of Macsween of Edinburgh, said: “Burns Night is a special time of year that combines haggis, whisky and poetry with lots of fun and laughter. We didn’t want anyone to miss out because of the times we live in.

“That’s why we are inviting people from across the world to join Macsween with Karen Dunbar, who is a stand out favourite at Burns Suppers, and the trailblazing master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie from Benriach distillery, to unite people from across the globe to celebrate Robert Burns’ life and work.

“We hope you can join us in what we hope will be the world’s largest virtual Burns Supper. The first 100 people to direct message us on our Facebook page will be sent Macsween Burns Supper kits featuring our new 400g veggie haggis, which is suitable for vegans, our classic haggis, and some Benriach whisky – perfect for two to share and toast the bard.”

Robert Burns died in 1796 at the age of just 37, and 2021 marks what would have been his 262nd birthday.

Macsween will open the haggis competition on its Facebook Page on Monday, January 11.
