East Lothian dog poisoning: Pet recovering after ingesting poison dragged to beauty spot by rats

The pup has fortunately made a recovery after the owners swiftly took her to the vet where she was given an injection to induce vomiting.
East Lothian Council confirmed that a Countryside Warden and a dog warden carried out an investigation at the scene, near the Musselburgh Lagoons, just after the incident.
There was no indication of any other poison in the area.

Hide AdThe pictures of the substance that the dog had taken was identified as a block of rat poison that is used within traps and it was concluded that the block was carried to the location by a rat as it was no longer tied to a trap.
Rat poison for traps contains a bitter substance which is unacceptable to most dogs, though it is possible for some to still be ingested.
