An Edinburgh family has caught some snaps of a new group of foxes living in their neighbourhood, and their cat Colin is not happy.

The Richards family who stay at the Inch in Edinburgh noticed the fox cubs some months ago and found out that they were living under a neighbour’s decking.

Ten-year-old Anna Richards snapped the picture of her cat Colin hissing frantically at one of the fox cubs as she got ready for school on Friday.

Mum Laura told the Edinburgh Evening News: “The cat had been out all night, so Anna had to let him in this morning.

“We see the foxes all the time, even in broad daylight, and we sometimes leave bits of meat out for them.

“It was still amazing that it came right up to the door - Anna said that the cat started hissing like mad though.

“The cat must also see the foxes loads. Maybe they just don’t get on.”

Laura explained that her neighbours have a construction business, and there are often skips around that the foxes like to play in.

She added: “The foxes are around loads, they’re pretty bold.

“Maybe lockdown has made them less cautious, with everyone staying inside, they had the run of the place.”

Laura added: “By the way, we didn’t name Colin, we inherited him with that name!”
