Since the heart attack, Lewis Baker, a senior property manager and the founder and co-owner of Morningside’s Blanco Beauty Lounge has been changing his lifestyle choices by eating healthier, drinking more water, getting fit and walking, running or jogging at least 5 kilometres a day and decided to combine them into a 100k challenge for the month of December to raise vital funds and awareness.

He is now taking to the streets, walking every day through different locations around the Capital in heels and donning his own ‘HEEL we go on’ jumper.

Lewis said: “I feel there is a stigma that heart attacks happen to people later on in life and I thought it would be good to get myself fit and raise money at the same time for an amazing cause. “So I decided to walk 100k throughout December in heels to help raise money for the charity, with my final walk being on Christmas Day.”

He has mostly been walking along Portobello promenade and from his house to his office passing through Waterloo Place, Princes Street and the West End of the city in a variety of his highest heels.

Originally Lewis had an aim to raise a total of £1000 however, in his first week he already doubled that amount with the current total sitting at over £2300.

He added: “I am really overwhelmed with everyone’s support so far and it has definitely helped on the cold, rainy mornings knowing so many people are supporting me on this. I would love to raise as much as possible so any donations are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.”

Heart and circulatory diseases kill one in four people in the UK and are the leading cause of death worldwide.

The Covid-19 crisis has had a devastating impact on the BHF’s income, cutting their research funding in half and putting future life saving discoveries at risk.
