Like all other schoolchildren, Sandy Innes found himself off school due to the coronavirus pandemic and wanted to do something positive with his time off, while keeping fit at the same time.

Starting at the beginning of May, he made the decision to either run or walk 5k every day in areas such as Saughton Park. Halfway through the challenge he, along with his mother Lindsay Innes had the idea to continue it to raise money for charity.

The initial goal was to raise £200 for DEBRA, a national charity supporting those directly affected by, and working with, Epidermolysis Bullosa which is a potentially fatal skin condition that causes constant pain due to unstoppable internal and external blistering. DEBRA provides lifelong care and support to the entire EB community.

However, Sandy surpassed the initial target and has managed to raise a whopping £1,292 for the charity.

In total, he completed the challenge by running for 23 days and walking for eight of them.

His mother Lindsay commented: “We are so proud of him, he worked so hard.”
