And they didn’t disappoint, with some great suggestions including stars of TV and film, authors, footballers and musicians. And with the help of AI, some of you even suggested using the voice of Edinburgh’s most famous son, the late, great Sir Sean Connery.
5. Boogie
Thousands of Edinburgers have been listening to Forth 1 DJ Boogie for years, so it's no surprise that many of our readers would like him to read out the tram announcements in Edinburgh, with some suggesting he takes on the role with his co-presenter Arlene. Reader Bette Duff added: "Boogie from Forth 1, 100 per cent." Photo: Photographer: Scott Louden
6. Ken Stott
Rebus actor Ken Stott was suggested by many of our readers to read out the announcements on Edinburgh's trams. The 68-year-old, who recently appeared in hit STV drama Crime by Irvine Welsh, has a great Edinburgh voice for the job. Reader Neil Jones said: "The actor Ken Stott who is Edinburgh born and bred." 7. David Gray
Hibs fans were quick to suggest club legend 'Sir David Gray' as the perfect person to voice the tram announcements in Edinburgh. The defender, who is now a coach at the club, went down in history as the scorer of the winning goal in the 3-2 Scottish Cup final victory over Rangers at Hampden in 2016, which ended the Leith club's 114-year Scottish Cup hoodoo. 8. John Robertson
On the other side of Edinburgh's football divide, Hearts fans nominated their star striker from the 1980s and 90s, John Robertson, as the perfect voice for Edinburgh's trams. The prolific goalscorer netted an incredible 214 goals in 513 games for the Gorgie team. Photo: Jeremy Stockton
