An Edinburgh woman has made a plea to the public to return a lost phone containing hundreds of photos of her recently-deceased grandfather.

Speaking to the Evening News, Kerry McCuaig said she was now considering offering a reward to anyone who can return either the phone or photos to her.

Kerry boarded the number 25 bus to Restalrig at around 5pm on Monday after work, where she believed she lost her Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone on board.

Soon after realising it was gone she attempted calling her mobile, which had been fully charged, but was put straight through to answerphone, promoting her to suspect it had been picked up and switched off.

After speaking to Lothian Buses she had no luck retrieving the phone from lost and found.

Stressing the importance of the photos over the device, she said: “It’s just horrendous, I don’t even care about the phone, they can take the phone. They could even send everything that’s on the phone to an email address”.

Kerry’s grandad was diagnosed with cancer last March, with many of the photos and videos on the phone of time spent with him up until his death in October.

In her original Facebook plea on Monday night, Kerry described the phone as having a “blue case with this photo on the front of my grandad.

“Please help me get this back devastated is an understatement” she wrote in the post, which has been shared over 500 times since.
