Old Boroughmuir High School incident: Police and ambulances called after 'sudden death' at building site

CALA Homes who run the site confirmed it was a member of their subcontractor team who has passed away after taking ill.

Police have confirmed the ongoing incident at Warrender Park Crescent along with the Scottish Ambulance Services (SAS).

They added that they received a call from the SAS who reported a sudden death in the area.

Emergency service were called to the former Boroughmuir High building this morning

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to Viewforth, Edinburgh around 9.15 on Thursday 5 August to reports of the sudden death of a 60-year-old man at a building site.

"His death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries continue.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today at 0832 hours to attend an incident in Edinburgh.

"We dispatched two ambulances and an 3RU unit to the scene.”

CALA Homes recently bought over the site and is currently converting the area into luxury apartments.

The company closed their site following the incident and commented that they are currently offering support to their team.

A spokesperson for CALA Homes in the East said: “It is with the deepest sadness that we can confirm that a member of our subcontractor team has passed away, having taken ill at our Boroughmuir development.

“Our colleagues acted as first responders and administered first aid until paramedics arrived. The site has been closed and we are offering support to our team and contractors.

“Our subcontractor partners are part of our team at CALA, and our thoughts and sincerest sympathies are with the individual’s family and loved ones.”
