The market was initially launched by the charity several years ago, but the project was abandoned as the ground proved too dusty.

The charity has since grown the grass in the area in order to reduce the dust, and planned to launch the market again in spring of this year.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic these plans were delayed, but a new launch date has been set for August 9.

A spokesperson for Leith Community Crops in Pots said: 'We launched it a few years ago but had to close it down due to the dusty ground, we have been growing our grassy lawn since then to suppress the dust and planned to launch it early spring but Covid-19 hampered our plans.

"We set up a Covid cooking scheme instead but that has now ended and we are back to original plans."

Leith Community Crops in Pots was founded by Evie Murray with the initial aim of giving her children a healthy outdoor experience in the middle of the city.

The charity now runs several projects, including ‘Edible Schoolyards' around Leith, and an urban croft.
