Arkadiusz was last seen in the Gorgie and Dalry areas of the Capital in the early hours of Sunday October 4, but police sadly confirmed last Thursday that a body retrieved from the Water of Leith had been identified as him.

His body was found near Saughtonhall Avenue at Murrayfield on Thursday October 8 at around 12pm and police had cordoned off the area.

On Thursday, a spokesperson from Police Scotland confirmed that the body found in the water near Scotland’s national rugby stadium was his and that the family of the 24-year-old in Poland had been made aware as had his close friends in Scotland.

They concluded that there were ‘no apparent suspicious circumstances’ and a report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A fundraiser on a Polish website which is named ‘Let's bring Arek home’ has raised over 21,000 Polish złoty (PLN) in a matter of days, which is the equivalent of more than £4000 – more than double the original target of 10,000 PLN.

Organiser Łukasz Pietroń wrote on the fundraiser: “Arek was a wonderful person, warm and friendly. Unfortunately, he was taken away from us. We want to help him to come back home for the last time.

"It costs around 10000 PLN. We believe that together we can help the family with this difficult circumstances. We don't have much time. Every penny counts and every penny will be transferred to the family account.”
