Golden Auchendinny couple mark half a century

Well known local couple Christine and Jimmy Forrest from Auchendinny celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the weekend.

The golden couple were married at Glencorse Kirk on May 8, 1971.

They have two daughters – Fiona lives locally and Lynsey lives in the USA, with partners David and Luke – and grandchildren Archie, Elsa, Loanon and Lathon.

Jimmy was a joiner and former business owner and is now an active member of the Penicuik Men’s Shed. Christine worked for the University of Edinburgh and was previously one of the managing volunteers at the Glencorse Centre.

The couple met on a blind date in Edinburgh more than half a century ago.
