The improvements will double seating capacity after first-class travel on the route grew by 6 per cent.

Refurbishment of the Edinburgh lounge has been carried out with the help of Caledonian Sleeper, and customers of both operators will benefit.

Ms Budge said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to open Virgin Trains’ refurbished First Class Lounge.

“It is vital that Edinburgh continues to attract businesspeople to the Capital.”
