Here's why workers have been up on Edinburgh Castle rock suspended from ropes

A number of workers in orange suits have been spotted up on the rock beneath Edinburgh Castle suspended from ropes.

These pictures, taken at Wednesday lunchtime, show several workers from a distance as they clear away some rocks and vegetation.

A spokeswoman for Historic Environment Scotland said: “We are undertaking planned routine inspection and maintenance work on the Castle rock.

"As part of this planned work, HES staff are pictured working alongside staff from our geological engineering consultant, which is normal practice."

The work also took place in December last year.
