Historic Environment Scotland: Edinburgh Castle delays opening due to high winds as other attractions across the country are closed

Edinburgh Castle has announced that it will delay its opening on Saturday, with the possibility that it will remain closed, due to high winds.

It is one of three Historic Environment Scotland attractions that have been affected by the storms that have hit the country.

Skara Brae on Orkney and Dunstaffnage Castle in Argyll and Bute have both been closed as winds of up to 70mph are predicted.

Edinburgh Castle has delayed opening due to high winds.

A spokesperson for Historic Environment Scotland confirmed the closure of the sites, and added that workers at Edinburgh Castle will be monitoring the situation through out the afternoon and will announce a final decision on whether to open on their social media feeds.

Although Edinburgh is not in the Met Office yellow weather warning zone, high winds and rain are still set to hit the Capital.

The weather warning is in place for Scotland throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Residents using public transport should be prepared for delays or cancellations.
