Holly Blake, 35, was told by doctors in May that she had small blue cell sarcoma - a rare form of cancer - which she originally thought was a blood clot when she went to hospital.

Devastatingly, intensive and gruelling chemotherapy did not work and Holly was given a matter of months to live.

In the time she had left she married her partner Niccolas Scott, 32, in August alongside her children Eli, 17, Poppy 14, twins Daisy and Pippa, ten, and her youngest twins Edward and Primrose, three at Leith Community Croft on Leith Links.

At the beginning of October the ‘inspirational’ mum moved to palliative care. On Sunday she passed away ‘in comfort with her mum and husband by her side’.

The announcement of her passing was made on a GoFundMe appeal launched by her aunt Christine Langridge in July, which has so far raised more than £22,000 to assist with childcare and bills.

Christine wrote on the fundraiser on Wednesday: “Our beautiful Holly's soul left our lives and took her place among the stars at 4:05am Sunday 18 October.

“Words can not express how grateful we are for all your donations.”

Speaking to the Evening News in August, Holly said: "I don't feel afraid, but I feel anxious for my kids and how life is going to be for them, but I know that they are surrounded by a loving family. I'm so lucky to have them.

"These things happen, but I've got the gift of saying goodbye.”

The fundraiser will remain open for the time being and anyone wishing to donate can do so on the GoFundMe page.
