An Edinburgh local has launched a romantic appeal to find a “tall dark and handsome” stranger they encountered in their local Iceland supermarket.

The message, sent from Max, who did not supply a last name, was picked up by the frozen food chain, which posted it on its social media pages.

Max said he spotted the “tall dark and handsome male” while standing behind him at the checkout last week.

He added that his crush may have a Spanish accent, and was “buying A LOT of cheese”.

“I swear you smiled at me behind your mask!” Max added.

Now Iceland has thrown its weight behind the appeal, tweeting out the message with the caption: “Well, this is one way to get someone down the aisle!

“Are you Max’s supermarket crush? Get in touch!

It added: “Keep tweeting us the name, location and description of your supermarket sweethearts, and we’ll play matchmaker in our very own #LoveAisleLand.”
