Neil Gordon was enjoying a trip to Edinburgh Zoo when he captured the incredible moment giant panda Yang Guang began rolling around in the freshly-fallen snow.

Local resident Neil told the Evening News: “Every time I’ve seen the pandas previously they’ve been sedentary – either sleeping or eating bamboo - but not yesterday.

“Yang Guang was in a playful mood and seemed to be enjoying the novelty of the snow.

“He started running through the snow then rolled and somersaulted down the hill before climbing up a tree.

“He was mid-roll when I took the photo.”

Yang Guang has been a star attraction at Edinburgh Zoo for several years now.

Last year, he even won the coveted ‘Panda Personality of the Year’ award at the Giant Panda Global Awards.
