Jury text scam: Scottish Courts warn of fake call-message which is being sent by text to public
Scots have been warned of a scam which is targeting people via text, telling them that they have been summoned to jury duty.
The text states: “You have been summoned to Jury Duty. Confirm or opt out using the following link.”

Hide AdWhen the user clicks through, they’ll be taken to a landing page where they’ll be asked to provide personal details, such as bank details or home address, will then be harvested by scammers.
If you receive the text, you should not click on the link.
On their official Twitter account The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service said: “We've been informed members of the public have received scam emails purporting to be about jury citation and requesting payment for excusal.
"SCTS does not issue jury citations by text or email and these should be ignored. If you're worried about possible fraud contact the police.”
Online scams have been on the rise during the coronavirus pandemic, with fraudsters taking advantage of the increased use of the internet during lockdown.
