North Berwick Coastguard team rescues stricken hiker at Gullane Bay

North Berwick Coastguard has rescued a hiker near Gullane Bay, after they dislocated their knee walking on the dunes.
The team was scrambled at 2:30pm today, alongside members of the Fisherrow and Dunbar Coastguard teams when it emerged that the hiker could not be rescued via helicopter.

Hide AdInstead, working with the Scottish Ambulance Service, the Coastguard used an off-road buggy to ferry the hiker down from the dunes and into a waiting ambulance.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard praised the “team effort” of the different agencies involved, and described the hiker as a “remarkably high spirited casualty” despite their injury.
“We wish them a speedy recovery,” they added.
