An 11-year-old girl has been taken to hospital for treatment after a car crash in East Lothian on Wednesday.

The incident happened just after 2pm on Tuesday and involved a pedestrian and a car on Pinkie Road in Musselburgh

The girl has been taken to hospital though her injuries are not thought to be serious.

The road was temporarily closed as emergency services attended the scene but it has since been reopened.

Police are investigating the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.10pm, officers were called to the Pinkie Road area of Musselburgh, following a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

"The girl, aged 11, was taken to hospital for treatment and there is not believed to be any serious injuries.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are continuing."
