Popular Edinburgh hotel Dunstane Houses named in TripAdvisor's Travellers’ Choice Awards

The houses are located in Edinburgh’s Wester Coates

Based on traveller reviews, ratings and saves from around the world, TripAdvisor’s annual 'Best of the Best' awards celebrate venues of outstanding merit and customer service and now place The Dunstane Houses amongst the top 10 per cent of hotels worldwide.

Upon receipt of the award, owner of the Dunstane Houses, Shirley Mowat, commented: “We are delighted to receive this award as recognition of our team’s hard work and dedication over the course of the last year. Whilst these last months have been challenging, we are so grateful to have been able to reopen our doors and welcome back friends of the Dunstane Houses once again.”

The awards come just a month after the Dunstane Houses reopened on the July 15.

Spread between two recently restored Victorian townhouses, the hotel’s 35 rooms and suites celebrate the owners’ Orcadian heritage and the hotel’s location in neoclassical Edinburgh.

Dunstane House re-launched in July 2017 following an extensive renovation project injecting fresh, contemporary interiors.

Its sister property, Hampton House, followed suit in 2019.

Designed by Edinburgh architect, William Playfair, the buildings date back to 1852 and are located in Edinburgh’s Wester Coates.
