The Princess Switch 2: Edinburgh showcased in latest Vanessa Hudgens Christmas film on Netflix

Netflix Christmas film fans can now see famous locations in Edinburgh transported to fictional kingdom Belgravia as the sequel to feel good Vanessa Hudgens film, The Princess Switch has now been released.

The Princess Switch 2: Switched Again continues the story of Duchess Margaret of Montenaro and her doppleganger Stacy as they switch lives again in a ‘Parent Trap’ style.

The Netflix synopsis reads: “Following on from The Princess Switch (2018) the story continues as Duchess Margaret unexpectedly inherits the throne to Montenaro and hits a rough patch with boyfriend Kevin, it's up to her double Princess Stacy of Belgravia to get these star-crossed lovers back together but the course of true love is complicated by the appearance of a handsome royal who's intent on stealing Margaret's heart.

“Throw in the unexpected arrival of Margaret's outrageous party girl cousin Fiona, a third look-alike who has ambitions of her own, and you have the recipe for Christmas triple trouble.”

The film stars High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens who plays multiple roles as Margaret Delacourt,Duchess of Montenaro, Princess Stacy DeNovo, and Lady Fiona Pembroke also having a producer credit.

The film was supported by Screen Scotland, sees iconic Scottish locations such as Mimi’s Bakehouse in Leith, Hopetoun House, Parliament Square and Glasgow Cathedral covered in snow in the regal film.

The 31-year-old actress was spotted in various locations around the Capital in December and January as well as sharing photos of and videos of her on social media in the Balmoral, Why Not and CC Blooms.

When The Princess Switch 2 was being filmed, Rosie Ellison, Head of Film Edinburgh, said: "Edinburgh has once again got top billing in attracting an international feature film.

"Coming off the back of Belgravia, Fast & Furious 9 and Eurovision, this is further evidence of Edinburgh’s film-friendly reputation. Princess Switch 2 is a romantic comedy starring Vanessa Hudgens which will bring our city to a new audience on Netflix."

Netflix and Hudgens have already confirmed that a Princess Switch 3 will be coming and once again, production is planned to begin in Scotland for a release date in 2021.
