Rare speedway memorabilia to be auctioned in aid of Edinburgh Monarchs

RARE items of speedway memorabilia are to go under the hammer in an online Zoom auction set to raise funds for Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway Club.

Organised by the Monarchs 100 fund-raising group, the auction will take place tomorrow, Saturday June 6, at 2pm.

Amongst the lots is a Peugot 206 donated by Ronnie Anderson and MOT’d to March 2021.

Collectors items up for grabs include a helmet signed by Monarchs’ legend Peter Carr, and two signed photos of Monarchs’ 1951 World Speedway Champion Jack Young as well as a 1995 Monarchs’ race jacket, signed by Kenny McKinna.

Items for the non-collector include a meal with Monarch’s favourite Josh Pickering. Of interest to away fans, 2020 “What The Fork” Monarch Richie Worrall has also donated his league winning 2019 Leicester race suit.

Other lots include a Polish club race jacket from Gniezno and near-complete sets of many of the speedway magazines of the 1940s and 1950s, Stenners Annuals, programmes, books and badges and a meal for two donated by the Black Bull in Mid Calder, long-term Monarchs' backers.
