The mechanical and mobile bar will be stocked with pre-cooled kegs and Scottish comedian, actor and writer will be Eleanor Morton serving free alcohol-free pints following social distancing guidelines across Edinburgh on April 8.

Speaking about the cherry picker bar coming to her home-town, Eleanor said: “I think here in Edinburgh we are pretty up for anything – the festival usually brings so many weird and unique situations – so I’m sure it’s not the weirdest thing people here would have seen.”

"It was so weird not having the Fringe here in 2020 and part of me enjoys the quiet but it’s not got that same buzz so hopefully the cherry picker bar will make people smile and get everyone safely involved in it.

"It’s difficult at the moment to separate work from home- so I think anything like this that gives you novelty is going to be good for our mental well-being.”

The locations will be decided closer to the date as Heineken have just launched a website today for Edinburgh residents to apply for the window pint experience.

Having worked in bars before, Eleanor says the cherry picker experience will test her ability at pulling a pint: "I think it can go to about forty feet but I’m worried about getting my pint pulling experience up to scratch.”

"You don’t want too much of a head on your pint and you don’t want to drop it on the ground.

"I’ve been in a cherry picker once but it didn’t go off the ground so it’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

"I mean no-one lives on the Scott Monument so I don’t think it will be too bad.”

Keen to interact with an Edinburgh audience again, Eleanor said: "I’ve not spoken to a huge range of people in the last year or so, so I think it will be really nice to just see people- pouring out pints and pouring out chats basically.”

The unique service in Edinburgh is the last the leg of the UK tour delivering free Heineken 0.0 beer to windows by celebrities across the country.

In London, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be kicking off the socially distant pint pulling, The Twang frontman Phil Etheridge will be behind the bar in Birmingham and in Manchester, drag queen and RuPaul contestant Divina de Campo will be pouring pints up high.

Matt Saltzstein, Beer Unit Director at Heineken said: "We wanted to bring this message to home workers in a memorable way - and attaching a bar to the end of a cherry picker to create the first ever window service certainly fits the bill. With alcohol-free drinks more popular than ever we can’t wait to put smiles on people’s faces and 0.0 beers in their hands, through their windows!”

People can be in with a chance of getting a free beer delivered to their windows in Edinburgh by applying to the Wind0.0w Service ballot.
