Silverknowes Promenade: Body of a 35-year-old man found by police as investigation begins

Police in Edinburgh have removed the cordon after a body was found at Silverknowes Promenade on Monday.

They have confirmed that the body belongs to that of a 35-year-old man.

Emergency services were called to the site at around 9am on Monday, and a concerned resident in the area said the area between Gypsy Brae and Boardwalk Cafe has been closed and police were in attendance.

Parts of Marine Drive were also closed as police incident tape was put up, and locals reported seeing cars and a white tent at the scene.

The identity of the man has not yet been confirmed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a man's body found near Silverknowes beach, Edinburgh, around 9am on Monday, 5 October.

"Enquiries have established the man's identity who is 35-years-old. His death is being treated as unexplained and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
