Soldier's family raise £250k

The family of a Fife soldier who died running the London Marathon have raised £250,000 in his memory.

Captain David Seath, 31, suffered a cardiac arrest three miles from the finish line while running the marathon in April. He later died in hospital.

Serving as an officer in 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, he aimed to raise £250 for Help the Heroes.

To date, his Justgiving relaunched by his brother Gary has raised £250,000 to help members of the armed forces.

David’s mother, Libby, said: “David at the beginning just wanted to raise £250 because he felt there were so many charities and good causes.

“In a bittersweet way, it’s great to know that what David set out to run for he has achieved 100 times over in the money that’s been raised by all the amazing people across the world that have donated.

“We just feel very humbled that so many people keep supporting us.”
