Taco Bell set to open first Capital branch in Edinburgh's Shandwick Place

Mexican fast food restaurant Taco Bell is set to open its first ever branch in the Capital, with applications for the outlet being lodged with Edinburgh City Council.

In March this year, an application was put forward to change a former shop on Shandwick Place from a Class 1 retail unit to a Class 3 food an drink commercial unit.

Now plans have been lodged for a 64-seat restaurant, with Taco Bell signage, and a window hatch for home delivery collection.

So far, only Glasgow has a Taco Bell, but soon it will be Edinburgh’s turn.The recent application, made on Monday, November 23, proposes to: “Renew shop front. New externally illuminated aluminium backing fascia panel with purple Taco Bell graphic applied.

"Halo illuminated Taco Bell letters fascia sign to be installed; halo illuminated ‘Bell’ logo box sign to be installed; new internally illuminated projecting sign to be installed; illuminated "Tacos" arrow suspended internally behind glazing.”

The plans have yet to go before the council.
